SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
What You Need To Know
SEO and How it will help your website get noticed:
Did you know that around 64% of organic traffic comes from search? Only10% comes from social media. To successfully build a digital marketing strategy, you have to master search engines.
What is SEO?
You need to understand what SEO is and how search engines like Google, Bing, and others work. How do they determine their search rankings?
Once you create your website, search engine bots crawl your website to understand the information it contains and index it accordingly, so that it appears in related search results. Search engine bots now are capable of understanding contextualized information (text, structure, and non-text content) on your website and index based on different factors, such as relevance and authority.
This is where search engine optimization comes into play. SEO refers to the process of making your site better for search engines. It’s about optimizing websites so that search engines understand relevance value and rank it accordingly on search.
Now, let’s make one thing clear about SEO:
Search Engines index pages(!), not your website as a whole. This means that your SEO work should be done page by page.
Using H1 in SEO Tips:
- Always include an H1 tag.
- Use only one per page.
- Include the primary keyword for your content.
- Avoid populating the tag with too many keywords.
- Ensure that your target audience can easily read the H1 tag.
- Use up to 70 characters in the tag length.
- Make the tag unique.
To make the content more effective do the following:
- Use one <h1> tag.
- Don’t forget about hierarchy <h1> through <h6> (though Google currently claims it’s not of top importance, it’s important to illustrate proper flow for readers).
- Apply keywords within headings based on their search volume.
- Keep headings brief and to the point.
- Don’t overuse H tags.
- Clear styles and format headings within the CMS to avoid unexpected/extra symbols within the tags.
